Before I got my first tattoo I was told to drag a paperclip or a pin over my skin and that would be like the pain, honestly, the actual tattoo hurt less than that. Aftercare, you don't need to buy that special crap they try to sell you or that people tell you to buy (in fact, I've never had a tattoo artist try to upsell me tattoo lotion). Just DO NOT use neosporin or scented lotions. I use an unscented intense moisturizer by Vaseline and A&D Ointment and I've been fine, it was what was recommended to me by two separate tattoo shops. Just try not to scratch it because it WILL get itchy, keep it moisturized, and don't bump it on things.

Also, I got your holiday card and it was so sweet! I still have mine sitting in the envelopes waiting for stamps...Ugh. Oh well, better late than never.
