Saturday morning I had planned on joining an ACA ride for 40ish miles. However, with a long work week, working late on Friday and not getting home and in bed until late Friday night, decided to sleep in a little and just ride on my own.
About 40 minutes into my ride, a bee/wasp/something was crawling on my head, underneath my helmet. And then it stung me for good measure. Well all hell broke loose, I was trying to get that sucker out of there, and in the meantime I was a train wreck about to happen. It all happened really fast. I jumped the curb, skidded on the sidewalk, and came to a halting stop when I hit an 18-inch concrete retaining wall helmet first. I was ok, and able to bike back home. Lots of scrapes and sore areas today. I had an audience to boot as well. Just so happens a garage sale was going on right where I crashed. They were nice enough to let me inside and clean up a bit. I was just thankful for the helmet!
Here's my knee all banged up.
Here's my hand (stigmata-esque):
And shoulder took the brunt of it:
Fucking bee/wasp/whatever! My bike was still in one piece, didn't see any noticeable damage. I'm still afraid to really look it over, I'll muster the courage later today.
