Can you source the story about unions? I'm curious which unions they are; my guess is that SEIU and the Teamsters are the main folks doing that. Unions have a history of part-timing people for their work, and paying (if they are working in a low wage market) lower wages. Every time I worked for a union, I worked for nothing as a volunteer.
I saw someone talking about unions hiring people at low wages without benefits to protest Walmart paying low wages without benefits, and tried to find details with Google. I found several stories about unions hiring people to protest, but they wasn't just about Walmart.
