Quite a few things, actually. For one, it's been making me curious over nature versus nurture arguments. Most everyone agrees that a bond of some variety is formed between a trainer and their Pokemon--is it possible, then, to strengthen that bond by impressing upon a Pokemon directly from birth? Or is it more to do with the individual Pokemon itself, and its own nature? They're thought-provoking considerations.
[He doesn't say "Yanagi-kun would know", but it's what he's thinking; in a room surrounded by his teammates, maybe it's only natural to spend a moment missing the ones that aren't there.]
