Ok I've started, I tend to do the cartography first it makes it easier to build the rest from there because different areas will hold different kinds of people, social groupings and classes, I tend to do the large scale maps first and slowly move in from there adding more detail each time, I'm basing this world loosely on William Gibson's neuromancer / Burning Chrome environment, so the people I'm building for have points of reference with the tech available to work with, I'm keeping with idea's of modified humans Like street samurai and the idea of Microsoft slivers (though in a slightly different way) and the visual aspects of the Net, ICE and that side of things basically because I can't see any other way portray It as he did the definitive description for this type of genre. No other author has even come close although some have tried it and fell well short, it will also give the readers of the works something they can relate to as well making it an easier read for them. Saying that I will not be using any people or locales from his works, so you won't see Case, Molly, the finn or Bama turning up in there. Yes you will have street samurai, Net jockeys (hackers), data couriers and data fences in there but they will be in a altered state.
Also if anyone wants to play in my sand box please message me so I can give you the information you need and introduce you to the other people writing in this world so you can communicate between yourselves and we don't get problems or arguments between you on who, what, when and where, if this happens come to me and i'll try and sort it out what I will say on this point my decision is final. Remember this is my world your playing in and if we all cooperate we will end up with a group of works that will blend together and enhance the world I've created rather than people trying pull in all directions and destroying it. I am open to idea's and comments and if need be will adjust the world accordingly. so everyone has a level playing field to work from.
