Look, it's not really as big of a deal as I was making it out to be, okay? I just got a little paranoid because the community's locks break all the time, and I didn't want him to know I was talking to anyone about it.

If it's not a big deal you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If I recall, you were the one who said your relationship with him was 'complicated'. Moreover, you were the one who said that it wasn't just a simple matter of him offering you a job and you taking it.

I can tell it's a big deal for you to lie so horridly about it.
