Phoenix, what are your thoughts on repentant killers?

Let me preface this by saying that I wholeheartedly believe people can change and, just as everyone-guilty and innocent alike-deserves a fair trial, so, too, does everyone deserve a fair shot at starting over. That said, I’ve only ever met one repentant killer and he’s still carrying out his sentence in prison. I can’t… I can’t bring myself to say that I’d ever want to know him better, knowing what he did and what he’d intended to do… but I wouldn’t begrudge his family and friends for forgiving him, and I think it would only be fair for him to build fresh relationships with new people.

Likewise, though… I wouldn’t begrudge anyone for wanting to stay away from him, either.

…it all depends on the circumstances, I guess. If someone’s carried out their sentence and they truly are repentant, then they deserve a second chance. I can’t guarantee that I’d want to associate with them, though…
