Several people have asked what the point of Valentine’s Day is. Why bother designating a day to celebrate your loved ones when you can do it on any other day, right? I think most of us try to do that, but it’s easy to let yourself get caught up in life sometimes, and we end up taking for granted the fact that our friends already know we care.
I’ll be the first to say it’s a commercial holiday. Companies use it to cash in on consumerism and fool people into thinking that love is about who can buy the biggest gift. Why let that get in the way, though? Don’t let it be about candy hearts and flowers. Better yet, don’t’ let it be about ‘singles awareness’. Use today to have a good time with your friends. It’s nice to be reminded that people care no matter what your relationship with them is.
That’s how I see it, anyway.
