Kavi was…. Intrigued.
Upon opening the workshop door and entering the kitchen, he’d encountered a strange creature sunning itself on the floor.
ANALYZATION IN PROGRESS. FELIS SILVESTRIS CATUS, 38.8 CENTIMETERS IN LENGTH. STATUS: NONTHREAT.
Kavi knelt down on the floor and offered his hand.
“It is customary to shake appendages upon meeting,” he said.
The cat sniffed his outstretched fingers, but generally looked unimpressed.
Slowly, he reached out his hands and picked the cat up gently. She mewed in protest, and struggled momentarily, but he didn’t let go.
Carefully, he shifted his weight and sat down on the kitchen floor, setting the cat down on his lap.
For a few uncertain moments, she simply stood there. Finally, she settled down, tucking her paws underneath herself.
He stroked her fur slowly, marveling at the softness of it.
Every since Karina had left him to go back to work, Kavi couldn’t help but feel that there was another presence in the house, a brethren of sorts. Now he used his system to search out for it, and found a broadband connection. Fascinated, he tapped into it. Instantly his vision in front of him changed. Instead of seeing the cat and the kitchen, he only saw a large expanse of white.
A box appeared, prompting him to enter an access code.
Kavi considered for a moment, then entered a long series of numbers and letters, and waited.
A moment passed, and the white expanse exploded into color.
He was in.
