FUNERALS..........

Jun 23, 2005 20:45

This would have been the biggest funeral that I have ever been to. There would have been approximately 200 people there. The church was only big enough to fit the direct family in. There would have been like 120 or more people still standing outside.

Poor Deb...She was one of Joe's (my uncle) best friend. Before she even got to the service she was crying. I felt so sorry for her and so I started hugging her. The service went for about 30 mins. Dad had organised the highway to be blocked off (by coppers) so that all the people could make their way from the church to the cemetry without trying to cross holiday traffic.

We got to the cemetry. Lillian (wife of Joe) she doesn't really have any family besides us and her sons. This is the 10th death in her family in the bast 25 years or so. Dad (his step-nephew), Ian (step nephew), Malcomn (good friend), Neville (stepson), Gary (stepson) and (_____someone else_____) were the Paul Bearers (carries the coffin to the hole). As soon as I saw dad carrying his uncle/my unlce I balled. My cousin was standing beside me and he grabbed my hand and held it so tight. I calmed down after that. They lowered him into the grave I started to ball again. It was so upsetting. Neville came and stood beside me...I grabbed his hand and wiped my tears away with it. The priest did his water throwing thing (sorry but I nearly laughed at that) and he finished what he had to say and we all walked over to Joe's side of the family (his daughter/grandkids...etc) and gave them all hugs. I then walked over to my aunty who was way over the other side...I hugger her and we both balled again!

I never thought that I would cry over him, but it keeps haunting me that I was the last to see him before he died...the last...besides Lillian (his wife).

After the cemetry we all went back to the hall and the QCWA put on the nicest food. Cakes, fruit etc etc. It was so nice of them! Got to meet all my rellies (distant ones). Had a few drinks...Met some NICE guys! They were actually people I already knew, but hadn't talked to in a while.

We all then ventured over to the Museum for a BBQ dinner. Everyone was getting pretty pissy by this stage. 3 of my cousins, me and my uncle and 2 mates drank 2 bottles of rum we were pretty wasted...Plus a few cans of beer in between. I was so ratshit...and Matty Box became my best friend. LoL. :P (Bauple'os wil know who and what i'm talking about) Good stories were told, became friends with people that I didn't even knew existed in my family...AMAZING STUFF THESE FUNERALS. It was so good! I really enjoyed my day.

At about 10pm we slowly walked back to Lilian's house after everyone had gone...Just us and Lillians family left. Another bottle of rum down the tube and an esky full of beer. Ahh! Lots of stories. Lollies...Cakes...More rum...then pass out! Walked back home...what a mistake that was...I couldn't walk. Dad and I had to hold eachother so we'd have some support. He He :P

This morning mum woke all of us up at 8:15am to go and say goodbye to Neville and Maree. They live in Yeppoon (in whom I want to live with when I leave school). Neville had to go get Roxy (dog) and Poof (cat) out of the kennels...He He :P Its a Pj..Its okay...Don't think i'm crazy or anything.

WoW...This is a really long Lj entry.
I think I might leave it there now!
