Went to my "nephew" Alan's birthday party today. My friend Julia, his mom, has always done these themed birthday parties for her kids and they're really cool. She'll do everything from the cake to the games, to the lunch, to the party favors, everything! I help minimally, like she bounces her ideas off of me, I suggest some stuff and the day of the party, I get to her house early to help set up.

Here are a few pics:

This is the first thing guests see when they come up. The door has signs that say "Beware" and "Enter at yer own risk".

Here's a closeup of the setup to the left of the front door.

And to your right is Mr. Bones. Julia and I made him a whiiiiile back out of 8 milk jugs. Boy, that was a lot of cutting, lemme tell you. But he still looks good!

One of Mr. Bones's relatives is inside ready to greet guests as they arrive.

This is the cake. It's a pirate ship, obviously, but I like the little details like all the fish in the ocean. Never mind the fact that the cannon balls (Malteasers! Yum!!) are in the ocean. Heh.

This is the centerpiece. Notice the net with the fish and seashells in the center and the treasure chest with all kinds of junk jewelry at the far end.

I looooove these portholes. They look ultra cool and make it feel like you're below the deck of a pirate ship. Sorta.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
