At some point Angel would learn that the library was not as private a place to eat as she thought. Unfortunately for her and Alex both that point was not tonight. She'd run into Alex on the way to the library before. And she knew the real him was back and awake, even. But Angel wasn't prepared for seeing him slouched over a huge pile of books. Darwin, Hank, or the Professor, sure. But Alex? It was still a surprise to her
"Whatcha' reading, asshole?" She asked in a tone that otherwise might've been friendly and cheerful. "The Man's Guide To Breaking The Hearts of Young Girls? How To Travel Other Universes For Attention And Profit? Or do those things just come naturally to you?" Angel went on to add more scathingly.
Alex flinched and looked up at her, having to remind himself that she wasn't an enemy. Not at the moment anyway. But since his return he found it increasingly difficult to remember what things were like in this universe. His mind was so clouded, so confused with images of the other.
When he realized what she was saying, however, that animosity returned quickly enough. "That's not even a little funny," he snapped darkly, with a cold tone he never would have used before. Before the universe jump Alex was nothing but sarcastic if a little angry around Angel, now he sounded almost exhausted.
"It wasn't meant to be," she retorted back unsympathetically. And yet, despite all the obvious animosity between them in the room, Angel didn't hesitate before taking a seat at the table opposite him, setting down her plate of burger as well. Then, she leveled a disapproving and furious glare at Alex that wouldn't be at all foreign to him-- in fact, it'd be very familiar coming from Angel's face. "What the hell were you thinking messing with Jay? She's a kid, Havok. A good kid. She not only doesn't deserve to be treated the way you treated her, but she had no freaking idea how to deal with that!"
He stared at her in disbelief. Really? She was going to sit there and talk to him about this of all things like she fucking understood the situation? Really!?
Alex slammed the heavy book that sat open in front of him closed and looked at her. "Pretending for a moment that this is any of your business, I'm well aware of what I did and don't need a goddamn reminder right now on top of everything else."
