"I don't know." She admitted. This was the 60s after all, depression wasn't something as widespread as it ought to have been. She was 'hysterical' according to the last man with letters behind his name. Not clinical.
Even now, when she was supposed to be better, there were still plenty of nightmares, plenty of nights she woke up in a cold sweat and tears. It didn't make sense and it drove her half-mad in it's own right.
"You said I'm all put back together though? One leg isn't shorter than the others?" Laying down, Jay felt as if she needed this sort of confirmation.
"You're perfect," Alex assured her. "Hank was thorough." To the point of making Alex ask him repeatedly if it was really all necessary because of the pain it put her through, but at least now they knew she would heal right. "The geek deserves all the credit there, in helping get you back to normal."
"Thanks. Remind me to tell him that too. All of them- Erik and Ben and..." Jay mumbled, the idea of Amara still in the back of her mind, she couldn't help but feeling at least a bit dirty for Alex being so close when he was with her. But still. She was hardly going to be able to say no and kick him out.
She turned - slowly, back to her back and opposite side so as to face him once more. She still looked a mess, the blood that had swollen and broken vessels at the fall- while healed, still bruised underneath her skin. "I was just trying to be better." Jay repeated, for what must have been the tenth time since that morning.
"Than what?" he asked in a whisper, reaching up to hold her face. "Jay, you don't have to prove anything to anyone here," Alex assured her. "We're here to train, push the limits of our powers, sure, but not to the point where it hurts us."
