and the nature burns along
as we sing this awful song
these photos dont suffice to make
what could be something great

Joan: What do you aspire to be in life? Why?

Bruce: I aspire to be a happy person in life. Happiness seems to be what everyone seeks. Along with happiness comes clarity and know thy self to an extent unmatched by any other joys that life can bring you. True happiness is hard to reach, when you think you're finally as happy as you possibly can be, life always throws you another obstacle. It's kind of a game, and it's a lot of fun. I aspire to be a photographer also. I like photography. I enjoy music, although you don't have to do too much to be a musician or a photographer. If I think I play good music and take pretty photos. Then hell, I'm a musician and photographer.

Joan: Are you employed? Why or why not? Do you have a job in mind that would help you reach your goals in life?

Bruce: I suppose you could say I'm employed. I work at the bicycle shop, "Serious Cycles" on 3A in Plymouth. I get called in whenever my boss needs help. I'm employed because I asked for a job. And I love bikes with an almost, unmatched passion. I enjoy working on them and being around them so much that it's almost not even a job. I love it. This job makes me really happy and I'm glad for it. It helps me reach some future goals. I'd liked to be involved in something that would have to do with bikes. I can't think of any other jobs really that would help me reach goals in life. I'd like to do something with my photographs or my music. Selling it or just getting out it would be great. But it's really personal art. So that's not a big deal. So I guess I'm happy with my current employment.

Joan: So what are your thoughts on time travel? In addition to that, would you change any event in the past?

Bruce: It's totally sweet. I kind of believe in it. If you think about it. We base time upon the speed of light. We see something travel or time passes and light moves. If you move faster than light, it’s almost like time travel because people wouldn't really see you travel. It would be so rad. It reminds me of that question; if no one's in a forest and a tree falls, does it make a noise? That doesn't make sense at all. Because if you're born deaf and you saw a tree fall. Your brain wouldn't think the tree is making a noise. And the tree/ground doesn't know to make a noise when a person's around. It's bullshit. I don't believe in changing the past. You can't go back in the past.
Joan: That’s sort of like; does a bear shit in the woods?
Bruce: Yeah, I dunno where else it would take a shit. Unless it didn't live in the woods I guess. Or maybe bears don't take shits. I've never seen bear shit I don't think. But when we used to go camping, I might've seen bear shit.

Joan: Ok, so next question: what's the most superior time travel movie?

Bruce: Donnie Darko…well about three years ago, I loved that movie. I mean it's a great movie and everything, but they re-released it and all that bullshit. So all the emo kids and all the kids that wanna be scene and all the preppy kids that wanna be cool all started to sweat that shit and it got really stupid. I'm wicked protective of that type of stuff. It's a great movie...and I love the concepts in it. It's really mind expanding and you get something new out of it every time for a while. It's a deep movie. And the story took place in Middlesex or something, so that's sweet. But I don't know, it's getting old for me. I own it, but whatever. Bill and Ted's Adventure, it's a classic. But I don't live for that movie, its cool, but totally unrealistic. Complete stoner film. Bill and Ted isn't a real film, but it's cool. Back to the Future, I never really dug that shit. I haven't seen E.T. I'm not even going to talk about Clockstoppers

Joan: Emo kids? Scenesters? What about them?

Bruce: Haha. What about them….? They’re not individual. We all have emotions. Scenesters are just proactive in their scene I guess. I don't know about them... But critiquing them is hypocritical. I guess we all go through stages where we "try to find our true self".
Joan: What do you think about music? Do you have a favorite genre, or a genre you dislike immensely or anything? Favorite songs or bands or shows or any of that?
Bruce: Haha. I hate thinking about music. I don't have a favorite genre. Although I'm into I guess "prog" or instrumental rock lately. I hate country music. Folk is cool. Umm. At The Drive-In has heavily influenced my tastes. It made me get my shit straight. I don't really have any favorite songs or bands or anything. I liked The Mars Volta show I just saw. And the Sonic Youth/Liars/Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ show in North Hampton was really good. That was my first real show, and it was really good. I hate thinking about music though. But I love thinking about music. Music shouldn't represent who you are. Although it does. It's totally kooked.

Joan: If this clock keeps ticking away, will time be agitated?

Bruce: And if this clock does keep ticking, time won't be agitated. Unless Julius is reincarnated and changes the calendar or something sweet.

Joan: How do you feel about ancient Rome?

Bruce: Haha. How do I feel about it? I don't know. It's cool I learned about it a little this year. They were way advanced. But I like Ancient Chinese/Asian stuff the best. Ancient Rome was cool. They had weird morals. Kind of the opposite of ours but very similar. It's weird.

Joan: What's so cool about Ancient China?

Bruce: They were the most advanced and seemed to be really isolated. I've read some stuff about them. But I just remembered. I have this book on the mountains and like the people who live up in the mountains. I forget what they're called, but they're crazy. They can walk barefoot the Himalayas and stuff. It’s sweet. They're always high just to get through the day. One of their feet is like 10 inches wide. Very interesting.

Joan: What’s your favorite shape?

Bruce: I don't really have a favorite shape. That's really tough.

Joan: What about a favorite color? Do you have a favorite shirt?

Bruce: My favorite color is purple-ish I like lots of colors. I don't have a favorite shirt. I like my jacket a lot. My favorite shirt changes with my mood. I have some pretty sweet ones.

Joan: What "sweet ones" do you have?

Bruce: Some 80 dollar preppy one, Sonic Youth shirts, flannels. Some designer shirt I got in Chicago for like 1/4 the price. Bunch of random shirts. Why are we talking about shirts? I like pants more. Kind of. Dude. Clothes? What?

Joan: Why do you like pants more? I've never been a huge fan of pants, pants are just, pants.

Bruce: Yeah, they're a lot more definitive in style. You can wear a white t shirt with skin tight pants and be a bad ass while you can wear wicked baggy pants with a white t shirt and be a homie. Hair is a big factor too.

Joan: You have awesome hair. What’s having dreadlocks like?

Bruce: Dreads at first are so much work. For the first month or two, I'd spend about and hour or two on them every night. But they're sweet after a while. They're worth it totally. People don't understand dreadlocks at all. It sucks. And getting them done is one of the most painful thing's I have ever done.

Joan: Would people perceive you differently if you shaved your head?

Bruce: Yes. They'd think I was a skin head maybe.

Joan: Anything else you'd like to add to the interview?
Bruce: I'd like to add you asking me more questions.

Joan: Ok. What’s your stance on illegal activity? What’s your stance on terrorism? Should we be terrified?

Bruce: What type of illegal activity? That's why they call it terrorism. Cause its terror they’re wreaking upon our nation. Bush sure does terrify me though. I'm not anti-Bush or pro-Bush, but he's a scary dude. Not in like the "oh he's gonna beat me up" sense. His decisions scare me.

Joan: I'm scared of Cheney, Bush is just. Bush.

Bruce: Haha. Didn't Cheney get fired?

Joan: I don't think so?

Bruce: I don't know.

Joan: What about politics? What do you think of them? What about the state of America and it's youth?

Bruce: Well I don't pay attention to politics really. And I don't think of them. The state of America is weird. We're definitely going through a transitional period and its youth is probably the one doing the transition. Maybe we'll all grow up someday but I doubt it. I just hope we don't have a woman president.

Joan: I'm about to go riot-grrrl on you. Why shouldn't we have a woman president?

Bruce: Exactly. I just don't think it would be a good idea. That’s all. I have no evidence. But you have no evidence against me.

Joan: Do you have a favorite candy?

Bruce: I love candy.

Joan: How are you such a good moocher? Is there an art to it?

Bruce: Being way cute. Haha, no seriously I have no clue. I tried to stop. It sucks when people stop talking to you. I used to not take money from girls. But when you can get as much food as you want, it's pretty tempting. I don't even know why anyone talks to me. There's not an art to it. You just can't be an idiot about it. There's moderation to it. But not too much. You just got to balance stuff out. I hate being a moocher but love it. It's so funny and stupid. I never buy candy though. I try to get the most for my money. I'm a real comparison shopper.

Joan: Well, people talk to you’re because you're charismatic, you’re talkative but not in a bad way, you just know a lot of people.

Bruce: Ha. It seems a lot more people know me than I know people. It's weird. Kind of creepy. I'm so horrible with names. It's so hard. I talk to people when I like them or want to. I'm not too shy about my opinion when the situation is right. I'm super shy sometimes. I don't know. I don't think about being talkative that much. I was super shy at the beginning of eighth grade. I knew everyone. But I didn't talk to anyone. I change a lot I guess. Or at least other people do. I barely have any close friends at South. I've been trying to make some though. So that's good.

Joan: Do you want to get married someday? Do you want to have a family?

Bruce: I haven't thought about it. The whole relationship thing is weird.

Joan: Why are relationships weird?

Bruce: Oh umm. I don't know. They can make you super happy and super sad. They bring people together and break them apart. They are good in some ways and horrible in others. Right now, I love having my friends and being close with them. But having one person in my life always there would be sweet. I'm not worried about it though. I'm happy. I can never make up my mind on them though. They're good for a lot of people.

Joan: What’s your stance on religion?

Bruce: I was just thinking about that...umm. Religion is good if that's what you're into. I quit CCD when I was super young I absolutely hated it. I wouldn't go. I was scared of religion.

Joan: What would you do for a Klondike Bar?

Bruce: Right now, if there was some in my fridge. Go and get one. But there isn't. I would pay a dollar for one at lunch, but it probably would be my dollar. Ice cream's wicked good. My throat is in bad shape today so ice cream would feel really good right now.

Joan: How do you feel about dancing?

Bruce: I love to dance so much. I'm going to go to lots of dance clubs once I'm older.

Joan: What’s your deepest secret?

Bruce: I don't know. I don't have too many secrets. And I'm not joking.

Joan: Do you have any areas of expertise?

Bruce: Bicycles I guess. Umm. Maybe people skills? Music. I like my photography. I'm not an expert at those things. But for me I am. I'm as good as I think I am.

Joan: Is the glass half-empty or half-full?

Bruce: If you spilled out half the glass, its half empty and filled up a glass halfway, it's half full.

Joan: Would you rather play accordion or bagpipes? Why?

Bruce: Bagpipes may be a little easier and sound sweet. So probably that's my choice. And that's also why. Accordions are weird.

Joan: Like Weird Al.

Bruce: Not at all. His hair does look like an accordion though.

Joan: Would you like to “pwn some n00bs”?

Bruce: Not at all. And very much so.

Joan: Very much so not at all?
Bruce: Yeah. My answer is as good as the question.

I've been riding my bike lately and nothing else.
