Does anybody have experience with gluten-free cooking or baking?

My husband may have developed an intolerance to wheat. He needs to take more tests, but his doctor suggested looking into a gluten-free diet. I can't find much in our local grocery stores. There was a little section at Publix, but the stuff they had was ridiculously expensive. I probably have to buy online. It's awful that pretty much everything has traces of wheat, barley or oats in it. My husband is not looking forward to eating more fruits and vegetables!
