Right, so before I get onto the important stuff, I just have to say, after filling in as a temporary back for a fake defensive line tonight:  OH MY GOD.  Being a back is awesome!  You just stand there, and look awesome, and then you run up a little bit and move the ball around and everyone thinks you're God's gift to the world.  There's no lifting, no scrummaging, and you can see what the hell is going on!

If I had pace, talent, brains, or any rugby ability besides being able to bosh any and everything that comes at me, I'd totally want to be a back.  It's frickin' awesome out in the wilds of the pitch.

(Yes, I am feeling rather better about playing rugby.  Finding a less competitive team isn't really possible right now, if such a thing exists, and I'll just deal with things as they come.  The whole experience will be what I make of it, and if getting run-outs in friendlies is the result, I'll be perfectly happy.  Also, if I don't have something to get me out of the flat, I'd weigh about twenty stone.)

As of last week, Cardiff Ladies have completed the league season TOTALLY UNBEATEN.  We're playing UWIC tomorrow, which I find terrifying and I am very happy I'm not in the 22, as they're one of the best teams in our region.  I fully believe we can beat them, though, and when we do, it will be the best celebration ever!

I'm not sure if I wish I'd been sporty earlier or not.  Like many a young nerd, I was forced to jog around a squeaky gym by a sadist in a track suit, and then to go on to do lots and lots of boring stuff that didn't even get me sweating.  So, of course, I got out of it as soon as humanly possible, and swore off team sport forever.  I'm still not particularly suited for it, but I do wish, a bit, that I'd had at least a little more experience when I was younger.  Ah well; so it goes.

(I'm totally rabid about getting attention and funding for girls' and women's sport now, though..)

sport, rugby
