For some reason, Andrew's body instinctively pulled itself into a pose of very manly protection (head buried against uplifted arm, bracing for impact), and so he wasn't exactly able to catch the staff Faith tossed him. Luckily, she hadn't thrown it very hard, so it just kinda bounced off of him, and clattered to the floor.

So, it was really just...embarrassing, rather than painful. He needed to work on overcoming those natural reflexes of his, which had been honed after years of being a geek in the American public school system.

"Oops," he said sheepishly, on the verge of blushing, and quickly got the staff off the floor.

He eyed the padding cautiously. Now, did he kill what little of his manhood that still remained intact, and show Faith he was a brave little watcherling, and go into combat completely unprotected? Or did he do the smart thing, and gear up like an American Gladiator?

"Okay, if you say so, I guess I'll go au naturale," he nodded, already trying to weigh the staff in his hands, and get a feel for it. It was a lot heavier than the bo staff he had made out of a broomstick and duct tape he had made himself back in the day.

Faith sighed when she saw the bo staff just hit him instead of him trying to actually catch the damn thing. It fell to the ground, bouncing a little on the mat. Dear Jesus, she thought with a shake of her head. That was Drew for you. At least he took a step in the right direction by taking off the Ninja Fucking Turtle mask.

"There ya' go, dude, already manning up," Faith said with a smirk when he refused the padding. "Ya' gotta get a flow for your body, and ya' can't do that with padding. Now, then, show me whatcha got. Go all out if you gotta." She held up her bo staff. "And if you want, you can pretend you're one of those damn turtles, just keep it in your head, you get me?"

She thought about how to inspire him more. "Just remember that time I took your hot pockets. Just feel that fury inside in knowin' I got the last of the ham and cheese." She grinned.

Andrew seemed happy when Faith complimented him on his promising manliness. He nodded when she tried to explain to him about getting a flow for his body, even though he didn't quite understand it all yet. His body had never really-- it fell, it tripped, it stumbled, it didn't really ever flow. He usually thought he was going to take one action, and ended up doing a completely different thing entirely. He hoped that through training, the two would one day be able to live in harmony, and sync together as one. Or flow. Or just not interact in a way that had him falling on his face half the time. Even that would be good!

Andrew eyed the staff in his hands, and then exchanged glances with the one in Faith's hands. He looked a little perplexed, and at first, kind of tried to hold the staff like a baseball bat. Then a golf club. Neither of those seemed right. He eventually did his best to hold it the way Faith was.

Most of the time Donatello just did this thing where he spun the staff and there was no way Andrew was going to try that. He already had. Many times with his broomstick bo in his room, and it was never pretty. He had broken a really nice lamp that way! He wasn't going to try that move on Faith. Maybe later, when he was a martial arts bo staff ninja master.

".....my hot pockets...." Andrew echoed in a strange, quiet voice, as if he was falling away into a misty flashback. In his mind, he was. So delicious. So tasty. So hot and pocket-y. He wanted some right now, just as he had so wanted one then! Andrew scrunched up his nose as the rage started to overflow, and stepped forward, swiping the staff up so it banged against the one in Faith's hands.

OOC: Sorry, I died. D: Got better!

Faith watched as he took her scenario and ran with hit. She smirked when she could hear the tone in his voice at the mention of that one faithful moment where he had been complaining to Giles about how she had taken the last Hot Pocket. It was an honest mistake - kind of. There had been one left and figured, no one would notice it missing.

Sure, it had had his name on it...

But the memory had worked. A few seconds later, Andrew was actually swinging his staff in her direction. She didn't relaly have to ... well, move... but she allowed the two bo staffs to connect with a solid sound.

"Whoo! Check out Andy and the pent up rage," she said, wondering if she should just continue this route. "Who knew this little Dungeons and Dragons LARPer had it in him? I mean, I always thought you'd never stand up to anyone. You got that look..." She was totally trying to get his blood boiling. "... you know that wimpy look to ya'. Still ain't sure if Giles was right in makin' ya' a Watcher."
