Man, oh, man did he screw this up. BIG TIME. Like bigger than the usual "Xander Harris Screw Up." And he felt horrible about it. More than horrible. He knew she would be mad but he didn't realize it was going to lead to what had happened. The only silver lining if there ever was one was that he still had all his limbs. Breaking up with a Slayer, especially one named Faith, was what could be filed under Extreme Sports. You knew it was dangerous, and you had no idea if you'd come out of it alive.
But Faith had grown as a person, and if he was she, he would be fed up with him coming and going without much of a word. He couldn't blame it on Giles; Giles was only trying to do his Watcherly duties from afar and a lot of the Slayers were needed here. At least he eased Faith from blaming the Watcher... which led to them deciding it was best to just call it off. They had tried too many times, and while he still cared for her, they would have to just care for each other as friends - once she was done being pissed off at him, that is. He definitely was growing his collection of hot-looking friends.
To celebrate his single life once again, Xander decided to treat himself to mall food. It was about all he could afford at the moment. And anyway, gross mall food equaled comfort food. Once he had eaten his mall Chinese food (see, a wide selection that spans all cultures!), he decided to get himself an ice cream cone.
Hand now full with a dripping vanilla ice cream cone, Xander turned to head into a walk when he nearly ran into someone just behind him. "Oh! God, sorry!" Then he watched as his single scoop dropped to the floor below. Great.
