It had been a little while since Gunn had visited Wes and Max with the orb, and now he needed a little grown-up time. Sure, he loved playing with the little kid and all that, but he could only handle playing with ( Read more... )

Faith was glad for the invite out with Gunn. Nothing against any of the other girls or, especially, Xander, but it was nice to hang out with people you don't usually chill out with. And Gunn just seemed like a cool dude to hang with. Plus, patrolling at the end of the night sounded inviting. Honestly, since she had gotten out of the hospital, she had been a little cautious about her activities. But now was as good a time as any to try it out - and not have someone on your back about pushing yourself too hard ( ... )

When Gunn saw Faith stroll into the bar, he smiled at her and gave her a minor toast with his bottle. "Not a problem," he said to her. "I figured that we both needed a little time to be away from the masses, you know?" While Gunn didn't have to deal with the swarm of girls as much as Faith did, he could understand that sometimes, you just had to get away from it all.

"No thanks," he said to her offer of a smoke, "but you go ahead." Not everyone had the Slayer stamina and, if he was going to try and keep up with her tonight during a patrol, he needed all the ability to breath that he could get. He took another sip of his beer, finally managing to truly relax. While playing with Max was fun, it was hard to relax when you're constantly making sure that the kid doesn't bang his head on something or find something on the carpet to swallow.

"Hey, I heard that you guys had a meeting about Slayers. How did that go?" A meeting of all the Slayers that were around could either be a good thing or a very bad thing.

"Amen to that, dude," Faith stated, giving her beer another good taste. This beer was cold and coated her throat nicely. "Been awhile since I had a nice chill time at a bar like this. Who knew that HF had dives? I thought only real towns had these." She gave the place one good look around before leaning back on the counter before them.

She took back the smokes Gunn had refused and tucked them back into her jacket. "Means more for me," she commented, taking another gulp of beer. She nodded at Gunn's statement about the Slayer meeting. "Went well. We're a small group but we're Slayers; we make up for it in ass kickin'." She gave him a wink.

"Plus, we got an even stronger team around us to kick even MORE ass. I'm feelin' better 'bout things. We're gettin' back on the horse, as they say in a lame-ass way. Hey, you wanna help train some of us? I've seen the moves on ya' dude. You could be a good sparrin' partner."

He nodded when she said amen. It had been forever since he himself had taken the time to relax for even an hour or two. It was nearly impossible for any of them to take a little time to themselves, with everything continuously happening around them, but what could they do? It was the life that had chosen them. "Even the smallest of towns have at least one good dive in a corner of town somewhere." Now, this place probably only had one, but one was enough for now.

"Good to hear that you guys have a lot of ass kickin' ability," Gunn said playfully. "Those other girls have a lot of potential. Just kind of need to point them in the right direction, right?"

"I could definitely help out with some of the training." Those girls needed to learn more than just the fancy kung-fu stuff. You always got to be willing to fight dirty if you really want to win. "I can teach all of you a thing or two. Well, you and Buffy pretty much have it covered, but the others girls could stand to learn anything possible right now."
