I'm wrestling with the notions of concept and conception. The thing I dislike about art school is the insistence on inventing meaning behind a work. Why can't a work exist on its own merit? Why can't the viewer be allowed to come to their own conclusions on a piece of art, instead of having the artist's intent shoved down their throat? It's annoying for me, personally, as that is not the way I work. In any case, I must conform to the requirements of my teachers, and come up with both Commentary and Statement.
The only thing I can think of is the idea of what might have been. But how do I translate that into a piece of wearable art?
