Bruno Nicolai - Agente Speciale L.K. (Operazione Re Mida) OST (1966, RM 1996)

Sep 08, 2009 23:08

Agente Speciale LK was apparently an Italian derivation of sorts of the 1960s James Bond films. Bruno Nicolai's score is not so much sub-Bond spy thriller music as a potpourri of European and Italian 1960s incidental movie backgrounds. There are chintzy party scene/go-go tunes with cheap fuzz guitars, Hammond organ, and strained swinger vocals; quasi-chamber music; dainty, angelic easy listening with the soprano vocals of Edda Dell'Orso; light jazz; white-bread scat singing; and pieces that are obviously designed for certain situations, like "Circus Fight" and "Parachute Down." It's varied and fun in a frivolous period fashion, but not a high point in '60s Eurotrash film music by any means." ~ Richie Unterberger, All Music Guide
