A Justice League movie

My Feelings on a Justice League Movie...

I have been mulling over the idea of a Justice League movie and I really can’t find any good reason to think that one should be made in the near future. I know I’ve written about this in the past but I don’t think it’s gotten the attention it deserves. I also think that reasons for not making a JLA film right now are so plainly apparent that I’m actually surprised that more folks don’t see them.

The last Batman franchise was the most successful one thus far and it’s earned a big place in the hearts of us fans. In order to make a JLA movie, Batman has to be a part of it. So the makers will have to cast a believable Bruce Wayne/Batman in a rushed period of time. The fact that it will be rushed I think is the biggest reason why the studio would want the film made. They want to be able to get in the game that The Avengers created. So I think it’ll be tough on the fans to have a new Batman to warm up to and get behind in such a brief amount of time.

Wonder Woman… Wonder Woman… Well… I don’t know if that character can be made to look cool. Not all superheroes are easily transferable from the pages of the comic to the big screen or even the small screen for that matter. They just tried making a TV show about her and I don’t think the pilot even aired.

As for the Flash, I think it could be done and done well. But once again, it suffers from the fact that DC wants to get in the game In a big, big hurry. DC needs to do what Marvel did and create stories of each character on their own first and THEN bring them together for the ensemble piece. We can’t just have these new heroes shoved down our throats and force us to like them after they’ve had a minimal time to develop.

As for Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, I don’t even know.

But now for Superman… I am most sensitive to him because he was my first favorite when I was young. There hasn’t been a great Superman movie made in over thirty years. Snyder and Nolan are going to nail Man of Steel. The best possible names are attached to it. The cast is perfect and it’s in the best possible hands that anybody could think of. If this movie turns out to be as great as I hope it will, then I don’t want it attached to anything else. It would need to stand alone and no future failure should sour it. I see it as Zack’s baby and he deserves that.

I am not opposed to the idea of a JLA movie being made. I just don’t want it made now.
