I'm sure you've seen the bumper stickers (or magnets) that say "My son is an honor student at yadda yadda school." There was the low-brow counter to that which was "My son beat up your honor student." I understand the sentiment but I think that the one I saw today was best: MY CHILD DOES NOT NEED VALIDATION FROM A BUMPER STICKER.

If your child truly didn't need validation, then you wouldn't need to buy a bumper sticker to announce it. Also, to me it just screams "my child is not honor roll material, but every kid is special, so let's all get stickers!"

You know I love you Clare but I just don't see it that way. I originally wrote a more aggressive reply to your comment but after reconsidering, I changed it to this. I react emotionally when I shouldn't.
