This is really just a blog for me. To get out my thoughts and whatnot.
I just took a survey for the Human Rights Campaign, or HRC if you prefer. Actually thinking about what I wanted to see done as far as rights for the LGBT community goes reminded me that there's too much I want to see done all at once. I want gay marriage legalized. I want all couples to be able to adopt children, regardless of sex. I want high school kids to be able to go to their own damn proms without worrying about a hate crime, buying tickets as "friends", or having to go to some far-off location for the alternative prom offered for them. Like they aren't human beings like all the straight kids and don't deserve to enjoy prom the same as everyone else. I want people to stop being ignorant and realize that even if homosexuality is a choice and not something that can't be helped, those people, as people, have a right to make that choice and shouldn't ever, especially in America, be penalized for that choice.
As Thomas Jefferson said:
"The most sacred of the duties of a government [is] to do equal and impartial justice to all its citizens."
One of our inalienable rights is the pursuit of happiness. Happiness, apparently, is something only straight people can have.
