Everything I needed to know about sand...

I am busy (as always), but also rather angsty and lonely since I am back here while Bob is at the farm for the week.  Yes, I go back Wednesday, but I have Monday and Tuesday on my own, and I'm not in the mood for it right now, especially since it was so lovely at the farm.

I'm not doing the 3, no 5, no, wait, was it umpty-noodles, but anyway, it's ( Read more... )

humour, bleurgh, angst

Tee hee hee hee hee! That's precious.

Empathy on YourBob being away. MyBob was at a radio thing all weekend. I were loneleeeeee.

I would just like to state for the record that *I* have stories too. Fabulous stories. But you have to hear them in person. They aren't nearly as good without the outrageous hand gestures (I'm half Italian after all...). And that makes me more speshul than you. Nyah!!! ;)

He. I have the traditional British reserve, but my words on the page slice like a super sharp blade. A blade I tell you!!! :)

It wasn't anything to do with amateur radio was it? We missed out this year.

That movie only bears watching for Alan Rickman. I intend to find a deeply discounted copy and just fast forward through all the bits he's not in.

...Would crusaders have learned anything about sexie wimmins?

The sexie wimminz would have been in Italy, before setting sail, I guess. The Middle East is traditionally somewhat reserved in its display of teh wimminz, and I doubt your average crusader could afford teh sexingz.

But I didn't learn that from the Crusades. 8)

Whuuuuut? Aren't all teh sexay wimmin bumping and grinding in public to the awesome rhythms of belladi? With nekkid midriffs and zills and sparklies? That was Robin Hood's time period, right?

Don't pillage the bar at Damascus airport. They serve a great Gin & Tonic.

And you're quite correct about the sand.

We get told (when doing care packages for soldiers) to avoid big bottles of shampoo, etc., because the sand gets in day one, and the bottle is ruined. Single-use items only. :)

It's not quite that bad if you're living in a civilised part -- in an apartment or a proper house in town.

But a friend of mine vacuumed about an ounce of fine sand out of his Tandy TRS-80 Model II after a sandstorm one time... Damned thing was still running just fine though :D

Hell, my suitcase after Arizona was bad enough! I cannot imagine the Middle East.

but darling....why should we not get you started on the clothes?! I spent damn near the whole movie spluttering and choking as travesty after travesty of inaccuracy paraded itself across the screen posing as quasi medevil

and Kevin Costner couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag ( much less find his own poop-hole) without a map, a flash light, a pick axe and 5 guys to lead him!

though to my mind...just as bad as his Robinhood is TIMELINE (insert cringe here)

you going to go to july Coronation?

What really drove home for me just how AWEFUL that film is, here we have Rickman, practically chewing up the set and screaming at Costner "I'm going to cut your heart out with a spoon" and Costner replies IN A DEAD, UNEMOTIONAL MONOTONE (ie. his usual acting) "to the end...then."

ack.
