Hey everyone, I'm back!
I see a little upward blip in readership, so welcome new readers, glad you're here, and I swear I don't normally leave the blog idle for a week, but I was out of town.
I had a lovely week at the farm - despite a three-day migraine and intermittent rain, the event went very well, even though I missed the last three hours due to blinding head-type painfulness. Thankfully, I have a variety of yummy pharmaceuticals at my disposal, so I chose to pass out for the evening. Apparently, without me, people don't sing, so I'll have to keep that in mind for next time, and make a Laura doll with a tape recording of me singing if I have to bow out early.
I blame the weather - which didn't ruin the event, but was... changeable. Whenever it changes that hard, I get a migraine (sinus meds do fuck-all, and pain meds do, but only up to a point). However, the intermittent rain showers were punctuated by sun, the temperature was mild, and fun was had in the woods with the awesome new air-soft propelled matchlock pistols created by Master Gamble.
Seriously, those things were cool.
The week itself was mostly beautiful weather - we got things ready, had a flat tire at one point, had the plumber and the electrician come by at different points, and as a result, we spent a nice couple of hours hanging out with
theblueleader (the flat happened in her driveway, which was much, much better than it happening on the side of the road - the tires were dry-rotted, so we replaced the front ones), we have a new tap on the kitchen sink that works a lot better than the previous one, and we have eave lights in the courtyard and most of the electricity hooked up in the garage.
I neglected to take photos on the day of the event, but I took lots of photos of my dollhouse, which Bob helped me put on a board, so the two parts stay together. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for those, as Bob has the camera, and he went down to NC to visit his Dad for a couple of days after the event, and I came back up alone. He's coming back tonight (yay, because I miss him, and after 15 years together, I sleep very badly when he's not there), so I'll probably post pics tomorrow.
So, that's about it, without going into excruciatingly boring detail - it was a good time, despite minor setbacks, and I loved spending a whole week at the farm, but it's very hard getting back into the swing of work.
Bob leaves you with a last thought: In the commercials for the "Most Interesting Man In The World[TM] ", he says "I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis". Doesn't that sound like a really lukewarm endorsement? "I don't often drink beer, but when I choose to do so, I sometimes choose a particular brand".
The MIMITW has too many things going on to waste time trying to get a buzz off beer. My guess is he sticks to grain alcohol.
