Connected Again!!!!!!
Yay! I have an internet connection again! This means even more catching up to do. (I've been busy getting settled in.)
Richard and I traveled up to Monterey on Saturday after we signed the lease for our new apartment. It's a solid 3 1/2 hour drive to get to her place, but it's not a difficult one.
Monterey is a really pretty town, they have more trees and plantlife everywhere. They also have a million more hills. I am so grateful Richard did all the driving since I wasn't going to cope with trying not to bottom out the car. (Which he didn't do.)
We made it up there and found Vicki on base somewhere near the barracks. She introduced us to some of her "shipmates". (I know she's going to get on here and correct things.) After hellos and how are you's and all that stuff we took her and a friend for dinner.
Dinner was a slightly run down English Pub kind of place (or at least that's my best description). It was right near Cannery Row and had a view of Monterey Bay. The food was good and really filling.
Apparently we lucked out and got really great weather when we came up. I think that translates into no marine layer and the sun was out. Since it was nice we sat outside on the patio to eat.
After dinner, we dropped Vicki off since Richard and I agreed to meet up with some other friends in the area that we haven't seen in almost a year. (Nothing too eventful, we amazingly didn't even get lost!)
Once again we met up with Vicki later in the evening to pick her up from a party. They apparently had a "Pirate Party" as they were all dressed as buchaneers. (sp?)
Apparently my sister had been renamed for the night "Captain Stack Sparrow"! They all looked fantastic! (I guess they rented some of the costumes.)
Vicki directed us back to her appartment, which is actually very cozy. We crashed out there for the rest of the night. I have to admit, I am very fond of her display of photographs all over her place.
In the morning (well it was almost afternoon) we took her out for breakfast before hitting the road. It was great to see her and it's going to be nice to know that she is only a few hours away.
Well, Richard just walked in the door, and I am starving for dinner. Take care and I'll post soon.
