"I figure the mall is probably our best bet." I say to Connor, as we approach my car. I have a credit card that Jenny and Mark gave me to use when I needed, but I hated the idea of not paying them back. I'm going to need to find a job, fast. It should be an interesting exercise in time management. Work in classes, studying, patrolling and a job. I think I see a lot of coffee in my future.
No time like the present to let Connor know about my other hobby. I didn't want to get into the conversation in the dorms in case Connor freaked out or something. Connor needed to know about the nightmares and the fact I hunt demons and have weapons because he'll be living with me. Our dorm mates? They have no need to know.
"Connor, I've got to tell you something and you're probably going to think I'm crazy, but you have a right to know since you're sharing a room with me."
I pull up at a red light and try and figure out the best way to tell him. It's probably best to just lay it out there and be blunt.
"My father was turned into a vampire and my mother let him into the house. She didn't know and it all happened so fast." My voice cracks slightly. I can't think of that night without the images flooding me and my stomach turning. "I was able to get, to try and get help, but it was too late. My mother and my brother and sisters were killed and my father was gone before the cops go there. I spend a lot of nights patrolling the city, trying to take out vamps."
So, yeah, that was blunt. He hasn't jumped out of the car so that is a good sign. "I have nightmares sometimes. Best not to wake me up unless you can move fast. I'm known for waking up throwing punches and stuff."
That's right, Connor, your room mate is a freak. Isn't college awesome?
