How does one defeat the demons of the mind?  They are not physical, therefore you cannot just push them away.  As you sleep, they come at you for you cannot keep up the charade of a mental wall and block them out.  They know what you are thinking, what you desire, what you fear.  Are they not but dreams?  Fantasies on one hand and nightmares on the other?  Perhaps they are guilt and regret put into "physical" form.  No matter what, it is all you can do just to raise the white flag and hope that you wake up from whatever it is that plagues you.  You can only be ripped limb from limb and be forced to watch your loved ones die so many times before the mental becomes the physical.  The fine line between dreams and reality become skewed and distorted.  You can no longer remember if what you saw in a dream was just that or whether you will wake to find out that your brother did actually die from the car crash.  Even hanging onto the memories become hard as those mental demons bear down on you, eventually to a breaking point.  At that point, is there anything you can do?  We all end up alone at some point.  Best make do with what we have before then.
