Ah! What a productive day for bunking out of work at lunch :) LOVE half days, its like school all over again. I love that sly feeling of being free, knowing those tossers at the mag are still stuck in their cubicles of interior design wankery. :D
First, I headed home and painted some of the living room with Jones for a bit, before he had to bounce. I kept going, and got most of a base coat on (Jones was right SO MANY LAYERS for bright colours. Gah!) but there was only so much I could do before I had to just let it dry for the night. Wah. Now that it's started that's all I can think about, and I've started framing up some old concert posters and work I've done for the walls. I want it to POP! I have also come to terms that I need something to get out all of my pent up energy/stress from work and life and being a flippin spinster, aaand that my badunk is not being helped by the sedentary jobs I keep, as it is taking over all of Hoxditch. Not unlike The Blob.
So, I ended up at The Warehouse, that new gym a few blocks over from my place and signed up for kick boxing classes. I figured they will pay for themselves being Jon and I are in the same post code once again. The membership was surprisingly cheap; classes are twice a week for an hour and a half. Classes run for 6 weeks and then you can call it in, or move on to "Level 2" Oooooooeeeeeeoooooo. Classes start Monday, so I have the weekend to be a slob and then time to get real. And and aaaaaand they have a POOL! I've got a couple of guest passes...so get your water wings out, kids.
I got chatting with Che, the (intimidatingly attractive) lad who signed me up for my membership, and happens to be teaching my beginners KB class. He was telling me he also works at Urban Yoga, doing advanced classes there a few nights a week. He was on his way over and offered to show me around, so we took a walk over and he gave me a quick tour. The place is rather posh and the people were borderline freakishly helpful. I signed up for beginners bikram/hot yoga. I think it'll be nice, especially in the winter. I also think it's going to absolutely kick my ass. I've never done this style of yoga before, so I figured why not go large? I might regret this...but, I like that it's on your own schedule, multiple classes a day, and you just swing by when you diary/motivation permits. So if any of you guys want to join up with me, we'd probably be more motivated to go together? *Cue cricket sounds.*
There was also a search for cocktail umbrellas for the amazing lamps that I'm going to make! Mission: Unsuccessful. I did pass a consignment shop though, and saw a couple of pieces that I will probably have to go back and check on. They're begging for some fresh paint and crafting over.
