You thought to disbelieve these guides, young man? ( Informative isn't quite the word I would give the inhabitants I have spoken to so far. How disappointing. )

I never received a guide. I was told that there was no way out and there are curses, but I didn't take them at their words until I noticed they were telling the truth.

Anyways, this place is more like... an alternate dimension that connects all different worlds.

I might be inclined to disbelieve you, young man. But the circumstances that have brought me here are impossible as they come.

Just ask around. You'll find that most of the people here come from different worlds and backgrounds.

I would assume that you would, considering the nature of your occupation. How do people travel here otherwise, besides on foot?

There's some kind of system for traveling between the upper city and the Underground, but mostly on foot.

I never used it myself but there are a couple tentitive maps to this place on the Network somewhere.
