So what's new with me?

Busy, busy with work at the moment but there are some interesting things still going on that I want to tell y'all about.

* Firstly I think Violet needs to be renamed Edmund Hillary or possibly Vasco da Gama. She has discovered how to leap the fence into next door's garden and also how to walk along it and from there jump onto my roof. She has even discovered that she can get into the house by the upstairs windows. I am trying not to get too worried about this though as she does have an excellent sense of balance, although it's difficult not to flinch as the fence wobbles around as she goes! As far as I can tell, Thursday has not joined her in this adventure as yet. It can only be a matter of time though - Thurs usually lets Vi try things out for a couple of weeks to test that they're not going to put her in mortal peril before she joins in :)

* My photo session with my brother went fairly well at the weekend I think. Of course I developed giant bags under my eyes and a huge spot on my forehead just beforehand but I did my best with the wonder of concealer so I think I shouldn't look too hideous. The photo studio is one of these places that specialises in non-cheesy shots so the photographer had us doing all kinds of things, including my brother giving me a piggy-back (poor boy). I just hope the pictures turn out well and mum & dad are pleased - they are coming up tp see them next Saturday although of course they don't know that. And it will be the first time that Mark and I have seen them too *crosses fingers*

* I went to an interesting church service on Sunday. I don't know if I've ever really spoken about this here but although I call myself a Methodist and spent many years in the Methodist tradition I don't actually attend church regularly at the moment for a whole variety of reasons. Too inflexible, no way to engage the brain properly, just plain boring quite often, not very good at being lectured at, some issues with the getting divorced thing, all that kind of stuff. But I'm pretty sure that it's important for me to go because one of the key tenets of the Christian faith is living and worshipping in community. So I'm having another go at church, but this time through an emerging church group called Moot. Early days yet of course but last night's service was excellent. We walked a labyrinth and thought about the concepts of balance, presence and acceptance and where they fit into our Christian journies. Difficult to describe but it was a very thoughtful and thought provoking experience as well as being very spiritual so that has to be all good.

And finally, I seem to have joined a sorority! *points at icon* Does that make me one of the cool kids now? Am excited - there's a first time for everything :)

*hugs* to everyone that needs them, particularly Jules and Brib.
