Yesterday I got to cross something off my list of things to do before I die. I always love those days :)
The thing I got to cross off was "Singing in a good performance of the Mass in B Minor". In fact it was a really good performance. We pretty much got a standing ovation at the end and there were lots of very nice comments from the audience. I was pleased with my own singing too - it's a long, long piece with not much rest for the choir and it's tricky in all kinds of ways. There are lots of *very* scary melismatic runs, good breath control is needed to get the phrasing right plus there's nearly a two-octave range in the alto part and some interesting rhythmical challenges. In fact you name it, this piece pretty much has it in terms of musical challenges. And I did pretty good with it, even if I say so myself.
Today I spent most of the day at our new offices sorting out the IT which was not the way I would choose to spend my Sunday but it's all done now and the office looks great for everyone's first day tomorrow. I just hope they like it. *crosses fingers*
