I think I may be turning into a knitting geek ..

I have just spent the most relaxing three days possible at West Dean college doing nothing but knitting, talking about knitting, eating and the odd hour of Pilates. It was totally blissful. The course was also extremely inspiring in that it wasn't aimed at having a finished object - simply at expanding our knitting horizons and abilities to understand what different techniques will do. And expand them I did. Over the last three days I have learnt :

* At least 8 new cast ons and three new cast offs

* Five or six techniques for Estonian folk braids (thank you, Nancy Bush!) (click here for example and scroll down to big mitten picture)

* How to do entrelac (surprisingly easy)

* How to do double knitting less easy to start off with, but then improving)

* How to knit a circle using short rows

plus I have become utterly fascinated with mitred squares. Now all I need is weeks and weeks of time to continue playing with these things and to design my own fabulous patterns for them. Sigh - whoever thought work was a good idea?

In other news, and in a bid to cut down my reliance on supermarkets I have just signed up for an organic vegetable box scheme. I get my first delivery next Wednesday and I am rather excited about it. Do any of you use that sort of scheme? It's one of those things I've been meaning to do for ages but have only just gotten around to.
