So, other than having a mopey fit, what has been going on with me for the last few days? A fair bit in actual fact:
* My startitis seems to have abated slightly in that I have now finished my first ever crochet project (a rather natty potholder) and a pair of socks that I found lurking in the bottom of my knitting basket. They are the Thuja socks from knitty and you can see the pattern
here. I made them out of some Phildar yarn that I got in France over the summer in a sort of speckley raspberry-greyish-whiteish mixture and they are most toasty. To celebrate the beauty that is handknitted socks and to set myself a bit more of a challenge I promptly cast on another pair, which will be my first ever toe-up socks in a fairly complicated lace pattern. All is going well so far but it's early days. Will keep you posted :)
* The Saga of the Spare Bed has finally reached a satisfactory conclusion. Have I mentioned that here? I don't think so. Suffice to say that I bought a spare bed recently and when it was delivered the company only brought 3 out of the 4 boxes so I had most of a bed, just not the supporting bars that join the head board and the bottom end togther. It only took me 5 phone calls, one formal complaint and a minor assertive incident to get the rest sent to me on a day when I was actually in to receive it. Le sigh. I shall be spending part of my Sunday erecting the thing now. Look out for tales of bruises and comedy DIY disasters on Monday.
* Our office move is now only three weeks away and things are starting to come to a head in terms of the organisation. I shall be so glad when this is over - it's been an 18 month project for me to get things to this point and I can hardly quite believe that we are finally really going to relocate. There is still potential for things not to go smoothly however. I went to inspect the refurbishment works on Wednesday and ended up having a minor nutty because the builders had built the kitchen some 20 square feet smaller than it was specified on the plan. Long story as to why, with the trail of error finally leading to the landlord, who had decided to respecify the kitchen without reference to me even though we are paying for it. 1 stern phonecall later and the kitchen is now to be rebuilt to the size originally specified. Encore le sigh. It's a good job we left some room in the timetable for precisely this sort of unforeseen problem.
Anyway, must go and organise more building related things. Have lovely days everyone.
