Kevin Smith, The Oscars, and the White Sox
It was last week when I was informed that there would be a test screening of the new Kevin Smith movie Jersey Girl. The date was set for friday Feb 20, at 10:00 A.M. and I slept in...so I was talking to a girl in class one day and somehow Kevin Smith came up, so she told me that she was going to a Q&A with Kevin on sunday Feb 29, and then she told me how to get tickets. So I went and got my tickets and saw Jersey Girl and saw Kevin Smith do his Q&A. And for all of you wondering if Jersey Girl will actually be good...the answer is yes. It's a very good film and I recommend it to all. Not the usual Kevin Smith though, think more of Chasing Amy, than of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Anyways we're walking out of the theatre and there is a huge group so we make our way to the front and get our stuff signed by KS and we got a picture with him, I would have been happy after that, but as we were going down the escalator we saw that Kevin was right behind us, so we turned around and asked him to go to lunch. He looked at his publicist for permission, but the publicist said no. So we were walking down the stairs talking about all different things like him, like his favorite fast food resturant and how much we liked Jersey Girl. He was a really cool guy.
So then we go down to the oscar party in the dorms, and there aren't very many people there, until the pizza comes. Then people started rushing this way and that. For some reason the RA that was trying to run the show said that you should only take one piece for now, of course the Klepto that he is, Steve goes ahead and steals a whole pizza for Connie, Steve, Brad and I to eat. It was great. Next they bring out the ballots for whose going to win, I fill mine out and watch the oscars marking the winners and losers, I was definately on this night. I missed a couple of silly ones like Best short animation, and best sound editing because I told myself I wouldn't vote for Master and Commander. So by the end of the night I was doing pretty good and most of the people were thinking that I was going to win...but I still don't know...they haven't told us....tried to bring suspense...probably didn't happen.
I have a White Sox schedule about my computer now, and I figure that I'll be going to a lot of games this upcoming season, if anyone wants to go with me. Just leave a message on this thingy.
