omg! it was so fun. I felt really good about myself after I met our family. mandy martin and I got the family with the two little girls so we were pumped about that. it turned out that our family was guatemalan, and they weren't extremely poor, per say. they were more working poor. the man, leocardio was extremely nice. and it was fun to speak spanish with them! except mandy kind of froze up because I guess she's never been around people who are actually actually speaking spanish that hasn't been rehearsed 1934839058729 times. so then I was sort of left without support talking to them. leo asked where my parents were from, and so I told him my dad's brasilian and this guy who I guess wors at latino family services was like, "oh? tus brasileiros tienen un equipo de futbol muy malooooo." and I was like , "NO!" and then he goes "viva argentina!" and I said "no digas eso, no digas eso! brasil es MUCHO mas mejor que argentina"
he was really nice though. the two little girls were 3 and 5 and they were called esmerelda and liseel. both of them were so cute! mandy's going to send me some of the pictures she took of us because I forgot my camera. esmerelda was sooo cute though. I was like, "cuanto anos tiene?" and she hid under the table. it was really cute and then when she went to see santa (hank in a costume and a terrible spanish accent, lololol) they got to get books and she picked this, like, disney classic book (it looked kindof like "the poky little puppy") of bambi and she was pretending to read it. ADORABLE!
then we went to eat, adn that was good and we went to the mexican bakery which was also good and then finally we went into like, this "authentic mexican grocery store" (quote, sra. spiteri) and it was like this corner store filled with rosaries and jesus paraphanelia loloolol I took a picture of these, like jesus trading cards with my phone and now that's the background. hah.
BUT! I found bubbaloo there! my favorite gum ever that I thought they only sold in brasil! I was like, "YES!" and then I borrowed money from harpreet to buy like, ten because they were only a dime each.
:) yaay
