Biography:
The known universe as we known it, revolves around one planet. Arrakis. Dune. The Sand-Planet of the known Imperium, precious for one commodity; Spice. Spice can help you sense the future, it can make you more perceptive to the ripples of time and space and for space travel, it is essential. Arrakis is the core of the universe, one of the best ways to rake in profits. Without it, chaos would spread and everything would collapse.
For years, the Emperor had been sending families to manage the "rabble" of Arrakis and to keep the spice flowing. Because nothing is more essential than the spice flow. First, it was the Harkonnens. But later...it was the Atreides. Sent from their home planet Caladan, they took over Arrakis from the Harkonnens. But neither the Emperor or the Harkonnens planned on them staying for long. Soon, they were betrayed, the Duke killed and his son and wife sent out to the desert to die. Paul Atreides, son of Leto Atreides the First, was no normal boy and his mother, no ordinary woman. She was a Bene Gesserit, a "witch" and someone with the power to control people with her "voice" and body language. For years, the Bene Gesserit had employed a breeding program to find a Kwisatz Haderach, the man who could see all avenues of the future rather than the limited ones the Bene Gesserit had. That man...was Paul. After he and his mother escaped the betrayal of his house, he was taken in by the Fremen, the native people of Arrakis, taught their ways.
In the end, he embraced his destiny as Mua'dib, the prophet, the living god of the Fremen and defeated the Harkonnens and finally, became Emperor. But his enemies remained and they continued to dog his footsteps. Finally, he lost his wife Chani and his sight, but he received twins, a son and daughter. With that, he left them in the care of the Fremen and retreated into the desert, a blind man.
But this is not Paul's story.
This is the story of his son, Leto the II. When his mother died, she had been addicted to spice. And because of this, Leto and Ghanima were born differently. Abominations, children who had all their ancestors' memories in their minds. As a result, from the moment they were born, even those closest to them hated or feared them. Leto, himself, understood the risks of being an abomination, of losing himself to the collective consciousness inside of him but he was also strangely aware of his "destiny", visions of a Golden Path that appeared to him as he grew older. At the age of fifteen, Leto has learned to trust only Ghani and himself; even his aunt Alia was his enemy, trying to find a way to make Leto succumb to the spice addiction. Nevertheless, Leto loved his aunt and his grandmother and grieved for the lack of a father, despite having all his memories with him.
It was the arrival of his grandmother and a mysterious Preacher of the desert that set destiny in motion. With Alia finally succumbing to losing her personality to the Baron Harkonnen-self within her and House Corrino plotting against them, Leto was forced into a corner by his hereditary prescience. His mind finally embracing a decision, Leto led the Golden Path by separating himself from his sister, and going to Jacurutu, the place of his dreams. This was not an easy decision and it was a decision he knew his father had shunned. But unlike his father, Leto is a very warm and loving person. He didn't want humanity to suffer in the days to come. In Jacurutu, he did the unthinkable. He took the sandtrout into his hand and became half-worm, a superhuman unlike one ever seen in the universe. No longer conflicted about his choice, he freed his aunt from the curse of Abomination while Farad'n overthrew his own House to stand with the Atreides. Even if he lost his father again in the process and his link to being human himself.
He was the Lion of Atreides. Leto is a precocious child. Still a boy, now a man and forever a god in the eyes of the universe. And yet, he runs alone in the desert, a boy of simple pleasures, enjoying the baliset to play or chess or simply sitting out in the desert. He's smart, gentle, witty, and capable of being anyone he wishes to be, yet clinging to his sense of identity very tightly. Leto knows his responsibilities, though they used to conflict him from time to time. He is the boy who will lead the humans into a golden age. "It was my strength as a human that I can make my own choices of what to believe, what not to believe, of what to be and what not to be". Leto's strength is deciding what's best for himself and yet being selfless enough to decide what's best for the people he loves and all humans.
