OOC: Full Abilities/Appearance
Near has no special supernatural abilities that would come into play in combat situations. However, Near is one of those hugely brilliant Death Note characters. In HTR 13, he is given a 9/10 for intelligence, a number only matched by Yagami Light. He is also given 10/10 for emotional strength and creativity, making him a person who is very capable of acting with logic and reason even in the most desperate of situations. We also see this in the series, as Near is heralded to be the number one in line to succeed L, always besting Mello during their mutual time at Wammy's House.
In addition, Near has exceptional abilities of focus and concentration. We see this particularly when he is seeking out the one most likely to be used by Kira through his connection with Takada Kiyomi. He does so by watching numerous broadcasts featuring Takada and Kira-related topics all at once over the course of 5 days. In the two panels that most clearly show the scene, over 50 individual monitors can be counted showing broadcasts, and the scenes visible all display different programs in different languages. Near watches these without problem, and when he asks Commander Rester for his opinion, the man says that he can't listen to things like Near can.
Near is all of 5'0 tall and weighs a grand total of 88 lbs. He is a tiny little thing, and appears even smaller because he is normally crouched in his chair or on the ground. He also looks very young for his age; even at 18, one would likely guess him to be much younger. This is due in part to his shaggy hair (despite the fact that it's white) and the oversized pajamas he always wears. His skin is also very pale, due to the fact that he rarely goes outside.
