BEFORE READING MY POST, PLEASE NOTE THESE TRIGGER WARNINGS:
• Self-injury
• Suicidal ideation

ABOUT ME:
NAME/NICKNAME: Alexa
AGE & LOCATION: 22, Richmond, VA, USA
GENDER IDENTITY & PREFERRED PRONOUNS: She/Her (I'm not too familiar with the terminology here, sorry!)
OCCUPATION/STUDYING: Student -- psychology. I want to specialize in mood disorders and art therapy

MORE ABOUT ME:
DESCRIBE MYSELF IN FIVE WORDS: Independent, artistic, empathetic, compassionate, obsessive
HOBBIES & PASTTIMES: Reading, writing, anything artsy and crafty, spending time online, exercise and fitness, I'm starting to enjoy cooking and really getting into it, cleaning, hm...
FIVE FAVOURITE BOOKS: My favorite book is Demian by Hermann Hesse, and he's also my favorite author. My other favorites are... Of course, Harry Potter, just like everyone else! I can't really think of any specific titles off the top of my head, but I love most of the classics, and sometimes I enjoy reading some young adult books (I'm very picky about them though) -- right now my favorite in that genre is Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I haven't gotten to finish it yet, though, since my ereader went out... No spoilers, please!
FIVE FAVOURITE MOVIES: I love mostly psychological thrillers and horror movies, like Stay, The Fountain, Haunting in Connecticut, etc. etc. However, when it comes to religious and paranormal themed things, I'm very picky because I'm kind of a buff with these things, and I get frustrated with false information. Like the Paranormal Activity movies... They piss me off big time. Outside of those genres, my other two favorite movies are Yes Man and Silver Linings Playbook. Yes Man was recommended to me by my best friend, and I have adopted that philosophy, so it's very important to me.
FIVE FAVOURITE TV SHOWS: Supernatural, Haven, Criminal Minds (I've lost interest in it lately, though), Oddities, Deals from the Darkside, Ancient Aliens (even though it's a load of crap), and all of that.
FIVE FAVOURITE MUSICIANS/BANDS: Blue October is my favorite band, and Justin Furstenfeld is my hero. He saved my life. I can talk more about this later, if you're interested.

THINKING ABOUT GOOD THINGS:
THREE THINGS I LIKE ABOUT MYSELF: My height (5'0"), my ability to feel, even though this is also a curse, and my openness.
THREE THINGS MY FRIENDS WOULD SAY ABOUT ME: My best friend told me before that I'm easy to love and that I have a good heart.
THREE THINGS I'M GOOD AT: Writing, being open about my life (I'm a huge mental health advocate), and organization.
THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR: My family, even though my mother drives absolutely insane, my education, and my friends.
THREE THINGS THAT I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT: Adequate mental health and the prevention of suicide and self-injury, healthy living, and writing
THREE GOOD THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO ME THIS WEEK: I had my assessment and evaluation at this lifestyle recovery program I'm joining, I re-worked my sleep schedule, and I "beat" Mario Party 7.

THE DIFFICULT STUFF (TRIGGER WARNINGS AHEAD):
MY MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES IN A NUTSHELL: I have bipolar II and OCD, and I also have a history of derealization while under stress.
I'M A SURVIVOR OF: Life.
MY TRIGGERS SO THAT YOU'RE AWARE OF THEM (OPTIONAL): Any kind of negativity and conflict. I always tend to have automatic thoughts of suicide whenever I'm near any type of confrontation. I just can't handle it. I think that's the main thing.
MEDICATIONS THAT I AM ON (OPTIONAL): Currently, I'm only on Viibryd and Lamictal, but I've been on everything
OTHER HEALTH ISSUES (OPTIONAL): None
OTHER THINGS THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW (PLEASE NOTE NECESSARY TRIGGER WARNINGS IF APPLICABLE): None that I can think of.

EASIER STUFF:
HOW I RUN MY JOURNAL: (for instance: filters, how often you post, how often you comment, things that you talk about on your journal, etc) I post a lot. There isn't really any kind of pattern, but it's pretty regular. Everything is friends only except for my public introduction post.
FRIENDING POLICIES: I just ask that we get to know each other and become friends, maybe even talk outside of LJ.
THINGS I WILL NOT TOLERATE ON MY JOURNAL: Bashing of my other LJ friends, mostly.
ANYTHING ELSE: I'm also an eclectic pagan, but I don't mention it too much.

POST SOMETHING THAT MADE YOU SMILE TODAY:
(THIS CAN BE ANYTHING FROM A GOOD THOUGHT TO A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE.)
This article (I'm such a self-help/productivity freak)

I get frustrated with false information

Yes! So do I! I'm constantly having to tell my brain to shut up when watching movies, haha. Especially historical dramas where the era is a time I've done a lot of reading into - the amount of false information in historical movies can drive me insaaane.

Also, a fellow eclectic pagan! *high five!* Would you be interested in being friends? :-)
