Possible move to Japan

So something I've been considering for about a week now is a possible move to Japan to teach English. Tim and Rebecca are already there, and have been teasing me about it for a while. Do it. Jump. Get out of the US while you can.

Ben, seriously, Japan is a pretty nice place to live. You have friends you love waiting for you. Teaching, I feel is something you'd be good at. Do something pretty awesome, and go to Japan. See how other people live and other ways of life. It will be a growing experience not many are able to have...

My gut says to tell you to do it, but I recognize the pressures of short notice + big change. Is there any way at all to postpone the trip by even a couple more weeks? At least so that you can get your things in order with passport, work, saying good-byes, etc.

If not, I think in the end you should still go for it. It seems like you're at this stage in life where there aren't many things tying you down. I often feel the pull of traveling back to Japan or Hong Kong for more longer stays, but school and soon work will keep my options limited. If you think this is your chance to make a break, do it. Adventures await you! The money doesn't sound too bad either ^_~ I guarantee it'll change your life.

As for health insurance, would your new employer cover some of that? Japanese health care system, I don't know much about it...but I'm sure something can be worked out.

Good luck with the decisionmaking!

Yeah, I tend to agree with everyone else. It seems like something you'd really enjoy, and a definitely jumpstart out of an unfulfilling and routine existence. But Heather and I still need to see you before you go :P
