I simply do not understand how peanut butter and JAM (that is what 'jelly' actually means) is a staple sandwich ingredient! Like how, say, CHEESE is a staple, or ham, or perhaps cheese AND ham (although that is somewhat CONTINENTAL mes amis).
I mean... argh! It's just sugar, with more sugar! How can it be... the standby sandwich! Whilst, I admit, from time to time in my life I have had a jam sandwich, if sandwich ingredients were in alphabetical order, it would definitely be like "Q" or something (where "Z" = a tractor).
I am afraid I have been reading blogs by American dieticians again...
Sweet sandwich: If PB&J is getting boring, try another sweet sandwich filler by using fresh berries. Spread a roll or bread slices with light cream cheese or Laughing Cow Light cheese and top with strawberry slices or pitted cherries (pictured here) for a sweet treat. This sandwich might be a best bet in schools that have outlawed peanut products.
HERE IS A HINT WHY NOT GO BACK TO DIET SCHOOL YOU ARE CLEARLY INSANE!!
Anyway, I am still really fvcking miserable, I would like about twenty sandwiches right now to go and comfort eat in a bin somewhere (Pret artisan proscuitto for choice, or perhaps Paul salami, or Pret posh cheese and pickle, artisan, maybe M&S £1 egg sandwich, oh, sandwiches - there is NO NEED for people to put peanut butter in you! Seriously)!
