Hallo dude, I assume I will see you later at P'mism?

Also if you are around Sat, we should have a trip to Sainsers - a sensible one where we have a list of stuff and don't just get a load of rubbish! I haven't cooked properly in weeks, bad me! Hobnobs are not a meal!

Image rights are a major source of income in Japan. Picture owners charge huge, eye-boggling sums for images, far greater than in the West. Even PR and marketing departments charge for images that in the West would normally be given away for free.

It's one reason why a lot of magazines now use software to make images look pencil-drawn so that they can get around IP laws on photos.

Eeentersting. A huge cause for lolz has been in particular Johnnys Jimusho's mahousively hamfisted attempts to keep their idols images from - what one would assume would be - perfectly business-sense-makin' promotional activities and restricting images to, like, those little photos you can get in Johnnys shops. I had assumed this was hugely monopolistic on their part but to know it's tied down like that from other big rights holders is, like dizzee say, bonkers.

However - my query about the justification behind the decision stands. E.g, "we only posted those beatles mp3s for the evocation of memories yr honour"...?? So - they infringed and the court admits that? But because it was all nostalgie it was fair use?? I'm missing something in this picture and I want to know because pink lady were the first j-pop I really <3-ed so biased :)
