This will be studied and examined and researched to death, just like the Genovese incident was. Dragon's right. The cases will be compared for years and the data will provide fodder for future research for perhaps generations. I am stunned at the lack of accountability that was demonstrated by not only the perpetrators, but by the witnesses and also by the community if nothing of great import is done. This is poisonous at so many levels. Poisonous.
Yeah this is just a few BART stops from where I live. It is so horrible. I think a lot of people in that community are so used to violence that they can't tell anymore. Yesterday, the police caught some kids there setting dogs on fire for fun.
There was another gang rape there last December of a lesbian woman that didn't get a lot of press. She was carjacked by four men and taken to an abandoned building where they beat and raped her.
Richmond is a f'ed up place. You actually couldn't pay me to go there. Unfortunately there won't be "witnesses" because to be a witness in a neighborhood like that is to sentence yourself to death. So, I think it might be a bit different than Kitty Genovese in that aspect. People may have wanted to do something, but they know if they do, they could be next.
