“Did you miss me?”

It hadn’t been that long, if you thought about it. Not even a week, for a fact, but that didn’t stop the little Dachshund from jumping onto Jonghyun’s arms as soon as he let go of his suitcase.
“Roo!” he called, cuddling the puppy to his chest. Her tongue tickled his neck, and his giggles fused with her excited cries. “Let oppa go take a shower, okay? I’ll be back, I’ll be right back, I promise.”
Jonghyun placed a kiss on the top of the dog’s head before putting her down and rising up, striding quickly to the bathroom.

“Did you miss me?”
A string of bawls and laments has been a constant for the past hours, and Jonghyun can’t tell whether she cries because she’s sad or because she was; out of sorrow or out of relief. The best he can do is comfort her and hope it’s the latter, because then it should go away soon. Seeing her cry breaks his heart, and the fact that he can’t even know for sure what’s on her mind only makes it worse.
She climbs onto his chest, rubbing her snout on his neck, and the soft whimpers she lets out make his eyes water. They’ve been like this for a while already, yet she hasn’t calmed down, and he doesn’t know what to do to make her feel better.
“What’s wrong? Tell me,” he coos, wrapping his arms around her tightly. “Hey, what’s wrong? Did anything happen while I was gone? Or did you miss me? Is that it? It’s okay, I’m here.”
He gets his phone from under his pillow, but when he tries to reach for the bedside lamp, she pokes his arm with her nose, taps on him with her paw; anything to keep his attention on her.
“Won’t you even let me turn on the light to film you properly?” he asks, scratching behind her ears to distract her as he goes on his phone camera, quickly pressing the record button. “What is it?” he repeats, incessantly caressing her neck, her ears, her stomach. He pouts, matching his tone with the whines she keeps letting out. “Okay, okay, it’ll be fine,” he promises, putting the phone aside and going back to cuddle her, to press her against his chest, to try to get her to calm down.
It takes a while, but she ends up falling asleep on him. Jonghyun doesn’t move, in fear to wake her up, but he manages to post the video to the net before he passes out, as well.
