A rundown of things.

Doors opened a bit late, around 7:30pm. The opening act, The Set started playing at 8:10pm and wrapped up before 9pm. They were from Victoria, BC, a very obvious indie rock kind of band, but enthusiastic and well-received. The fans were thankfully very encouraging ( Read more... )

I never appreciated until now how difficult it is to just get the right police background check. It should be easy-peasy right? I left this blog pretty derelict and completely forgot to write about the last D'espa gig (May 24, Bottom Line) mostly because notafanboy and harmlessbondage were there too and already wrote amazingly comprehensive reports. Nonetheless, I'm going to save the setlist and a few notes here for my own sake.

I tried to get tickets for D'espairsRay Hamamatsu FORCE 4/26 today. The SAME thing that happened for the Stylish Wave Countdown tickets happened this time. Got there at 10am, and the Lawson machines were completely overloaded with requests for tickets going on sale at Saturday 10am so it didn't work, despite my trying five times. Have not updated in soooo long. I'm making a few notes of the New Years I spent in Tokyo, and some other lives. This was probably one of the best trips I've made to Tokyo. Chilling with nice people, ice skating in Yokohama (:D), a rollercoaster ride at 4am, shopping, discovering Ameyoko, and the lives were good, too.

The last couple of D'espa singles were good but not mind-blowing. But I'm pretty pleased with this one. It may be the first time I actually like the title track better than the B-side. Bullet sounds uncharacteristically muddled, sloppy, and uneven. It does feel experimental for them, though. HORIZON is a great A-side. It's peppy, a total grab for ( Read more... )
