[Sulphur, by this point, is tired of keeping herself locked up in her room. There's really nothing to do there other than eavesdrop on everyone else's lives through her comm and take about 9 bubble baths a day (which gets dull after a while and makes her skin feel strange

Lily needs a new pair of itsy-bitsy kid Chucks, so to Deck 12 she went. That's where she finds Sulphur, rummaging through the luggage. Lily hasn't seen Sulphur in a long time, so she says,]

Hi, Sully!

[even though Lily's still a little irritated by the whole has-to-wear-a-collar thing. Seriously, she can't get over that.]

[Sulphur carefully maneuvers herself over to another section of the luggage, hoping to find something interesting. The spot she's been digging in is kind of ... well ... boring.]

Hiya Lily. What're you doing down here?

[lilyground]

[Lily goes for the bright-colored luggage. That's usually full of kid stuff. Sully should try the fancy Dolce and Gabbana suitcases. Those have the pretty stuff. That's where Razer gets Lily's big clothes.]

I'm looking for shoes! What about you?

[Well, Sulphur's not a mindreader, so actually telling her that might help more. She's only been up here like ... once or twice, so.]

Preeeetty much anything. What kind of shoes?

Chucks. The lop-top kind. They're my favorites.

[Especially in orange.]

Hey, if you look in the fancy bags, you get fancy stuff. [She points to a Prada suitcase.] Like that one!

If I find a pair I'll give them to you, then. Do you know what size you are?

[Sulphur climbs carefully over some of the bags to get to the Prada one and flips it open. The first thing she sees is an AMAZING pair of sunglasses, and she immediately tucks them away into her bag.]

Awesome! Do you do this a lot or something?

Yeah!

[It's true. She does. Razer's gotten her hooked on fashion. Lily digs through a child's suitcase and finds a pair of low-tops, but they're blue, so she throws them over her shoulder. Orange, dammit!]

I think I'm size liiike, 5?

[This is another reason that Sulphur and Lily will get along well. She plucks through several suitcases before presenting the younger girl with the kind of shoes she's looking for.]

Five and a half. Close enough?

[ORANGE LOW-TOPS!?]

Yeah, that's okay.

[Lily kicks off her flip-flops, takes the Chucks and puts them on. They fit almost perfect!]

[Sulphur reaches over to ruffle Lily's hair playfully, grinning.]

No prob, Lily. They look really cute on you, you know that? You should wear 'em lots.

I will!

[Lily loves praise. Loves praise so, so much. She fixes her hair.

... Oh, wow, Lily didn't even notice that.]

... You have black eyes?

[Sulphur's expression falls and her ears lower.]

Oh. Uhm. ...Yeah. I -- I got them a little after Jennifer got out.

Oh.

[Oh. Lily doesn't bother to ask what happened.]

... Sorry.

...I can put some glasses on if they scare you.

[Her ears remain flattened, and her tone is soft.]

No! No, they're not scary. I've seen them lots, it's okay! You're not the only one with black eyes! Jane and Christine have - had them, and... other people!

[Way to be reassuring, Lily! You go, girl!]

So, see, it's no big deal.

[Knowing that someone other than just Herz has had them comforts Sully a little, and she seems to relax.]

Did they get them after dying a lot, too, or was it ... um, natural for them?
