There were a few comments on one of The Magdalene's LJ posts, in regards to promotion these days and the unfortunate demise of boards like Kaos. And it got me thinking (or reminiscing?).
I totally agree that it is a shame about the untimely rot of boards like Kaos, Club Bizzare etc etc as not only were they, and their predecessors, great places to hang out and meet new people through the club scene, but they were important networking tools and promotional weapons. Not to mention that they provided hours of amusement at times.
Why are these forums of old, now about as lively as an agricultural dust bowl? Well I've considered joining in on the discussions held at popular foreign scene based forums, only to find one hundred and one threads about how parents just don't understand Goth, or how to get away with Gothing it up in the classroom etc. When confronted with a What is Goth thread, I just have nothing to say (maybe I'm so vanilla I just don't know). It's boring to me. Repetitive, dull and I've been there and moaned about that already.
There just doesn't seem to be much left to talk about.
And admit it people, how many of you only logged in, in those last days, for the entertainment provided by the slanging matches. As soon as someone put their foot down and told us all to grow up, the discussion stopped! Admit it, you know you loved the blood and guts.
Once you get past the "introduce yourselves" and photo thread, what else is there to say?
So, is it possible that the scene here is getting so old, that we've run out of dark things to discuss?
