SPOON!!!!!

The purpose of this entry is to inform you of what happened the day/night of Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th, 2005. May I begin?

I was stressing when Cassie picked me up Friday morning. I had a music history test that I was not prepared to take within two hours, but all was well. Since Cassie picked me up an hour early that morning, I had plenty of time to study and think I did quite well. We'll see. After taking my test, I ate some lunch and headed to theory class. . . then Erik told me he'd burn me two more Spoon CD"s if I came up to his room..so I grabbed Cassie and we headed to Erik and Dan's dorm...I acquired two Imogen Heap (fFrou Frou) CD's and two Spoon CD's. We won't talk about the things I do for music (but not to worry, it wasn't too terrible.). . I played in masterclass..terribly...but that's okay. I plan on getting better at that dern piana.

TA DA...Road trip time! Cassie and I jumped into her car and had a fun-filled ride down to Chambana. We got there almost an hour earlier than planned, but gave Ryan a call. Luckily he was around and ready for us..so we went up to his apartment and hung out for a while. We ended up going to dinner at "Zas," and it was pretty much an awesome place. I had some white wine fettucini with tomatoes, chicken, and spinach. Mmmmm.. Ryan walked us to Foellinger and some drunk people approached us..(members of Star Course--which is the organization down there that plans/runs concerts/events..It's run by students.)...that was interesting, to say the least...(apparently they got kicked out of the show because they were drunk)..Cassie and I headed inside..and quickly found Jason and Justin guarding the doors. Then we walked around and tried to find Alex, but he was apparently down by the men's bathroom..the one place we didnt look. (They're all members of Star Course, too.) We went in to find our seats...(7th row..woah...15 feet from the stage.) and I randomly ran into Michael Kiesewetter and Luke Kinsinger...and then, my cousin Heather (aaron's older sister). We finally found Alex (and I finally got to meet Pat after 5-6 years of hearing about him!)..and then the show started..

The opening act was terrible. It was one girl and one guy. She was on guitar/vocals..and he played drums. He couldnt keep a beat. She couldnt hold a tune. It was terrible. Cassie and I went out to buy a Spoon t-shirt..then quickly came back in to find Spoon setting up..

Can we all just stop and reflect for a moment on this amazing band we call "Spoon"? I had to contain all of my excitement and only dance a little (okay, so it was a lot at times..hah. I tried to hold it back!)..The lead is such a rockstar. It was about an hour and 15 minutes of complete bliss. BLISS! I wish I wouldnt have dropped my camera off in the car, because I was sooo close to the stage. My voice was practically gone by the end of the encore because I was such a little girl about it all. Our seats were spectacular, the show was spectacular..and I love Spoon. Did I mention that? After the show, we hung around a bit..and I was so close to just talking to the lead singer, the drummer, and the keyboardist (about 2 feet away from them while they were talking to somebody else)..but Cassie was bashful...and we didnt...but we could have...I guess there's always a next time. I hope there's a next time..Oh well.

Ryan met us at Foellinger and we went back to his apartment until Jason was done. At about midnight, we all headed out for the after party...We walked quite a ways. U of I is soo huge. We ended up going into the party for maybe 1/2 an hour..met up with Justin, Alex, and Pat..and hung out for a while. "Have you had 525,600 .....??" Hah. Nevermind. Anyways, the party was hot and lame..and we werent about to drink so we left and headed back again to Ryan's apartment..We piled in and watched a "Wet Hot American Summer"..which was quite entertaining..but some parts just grossed me out. Ended up walking back to Jason's dorm at about 4 in the morning..and falling asleep in my clothes on a lounge chair cushion on Jason's floor. Cassie had to get up at 6 to drive to Bloomington and take a test...so when I got up at 10 am..Jason and I headed to one of the cafes to get some breakfast...Cassie got back just in time..We loaded up our stuff into Cassie's car again, said goodbye to jason..and then met up with Red at the cafe..so I could drink more coffee, too. It was so nice seeing everybody!

We were then going to leave Champaign..at about 1;30 in the afternoon..but decided we'd make a quick stop at the mall to see if they had any stores we didnt down in Peoria. It ended up being a 4 hour stop...and yeah, they had a New York and Company. I bought two new button up shirts. After we went back a second time to Famous to get Cassie's phone (which she set down when trying on a jacket)..we headed to Sonic..and I had my first Sonic experience. Mmmm...Lime slushies are spectacular.

All in all, an amazing weekend. I'm so tired. Thank God for daylight savings time tonight...an extra hour of sleep wouldnt do me any harm..Did I mention I also have the complete Beck collection? Yeah...Amazing.

My Dearest Spoon,

You win my heart.

Love,

Mary.
