Day 51, evening, controll room/Weir's office, attn. Weir [F]
With mixed emotions, Perna had left the infirmary and made her way to the gate room. From Carson's tales she'd known there were differences between their people. But she hadn't been able to guess just how different they were.
She wasn't sure her father was going to like what she could tell him, so she decided not to bring up in the conversation. He was still hoping that Carson would come back one day, and not just stay for a couple of days.
That was very unlikely, Perna thought. Chancellor Druhin was very strict, and it was entirely possible, he'd call her back if he found out about Carson and McKay. He hadn't spelled it out, but she was sure he was hoping for Carson to come back to Hoff. As a consultant or advisor, and maybe son-in-law.
Perna greeted the soldier who was on duty and who made the connection to let her talk to her father. She didn't really have privacy, so she kept the conversation short, informing him about the snowball match and that she planned to get back to research now that the infirmary wasn't so crowded anymore after Carson released most of his patients.
"Do you think it is possible for me to come to visit you in Atlantis," her father asked.
"I don't know, father," she replied honestly, giving the soldier a smile. "But I will talk to Dr Weir and ask on your behalf."
"You will do that, Perna," came the reply. "Please give her my kindest regards and give greetings to Dr Beckett."
Perna blushed and turned, facing away from the man who sat at the console and grinned. "I will do that, father," she gave back. "I will talk to you again in two days. Be well."
"Be well, Perna."
Turning back to the soldier on duty, Perna smiled. "Thank you very much,"
"Oh, don't mention it," the man gave back. "Have a nice evening, ma'am."
Perna nodded and wished him the same and turned to leave. Then she saw Dr Weir in her office and decided to talk to her right now. She still had over an hour to spend until they wanted to meet for dinner.
"Excuse me, Dr Weir," Perna softly said, standing at the entrance to Weir's office. "I was just talking to my father, and saw you were still here. Can I come in for a minute?"
